  Haleth was the daughter of Haldad and the chieftain who saved the Haladin from destruction in Thargelion, refused the protection of Caranthir, and led her people west to the forest of Brethil. The second house of the Edain took her name, and she is the only woman recorded as ruling one of the three houses.

  Brandir the Lame, son of Handir, was the last lord of the House of Haleth in Brethil. A gentle man who preferred healing to war, he took in Túrin and later Níniel, whom he loved, and was slain by Túrin after telling him the truth of Nienor's death.
